At the November Special General Meeting, changes were also approved to the Constitution; the revised Constitution (see above attached) will be filed with the Society Office following completion of the Annual General Meeting (Constitution changes could not be made as part of the Transition Submission in November, so they have been deferred until the annual report is filed after the AGM).

Our Marketing and Merch Director Lisa Troy has an exciting opportunity for you. Read her message below to see what she’s offering:
———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
Love craft beer? So do we!
Artistic? We’re not!
CAMRA BC Victoria Branch is in need of some new swag so we are putting it out to you folks to submit your designs for new t-shirts. Please share with all the artistic people you know as anyone can win this contest!
We are also all ears for other swag items you’d love to rock to show your love for craft beer.
I guess we can’t call it a contest without winning something so winner(s) gets a copy of their winning design/idea.
Deadline is as soon as we fall in love with a design.
Send all ideas and designs to merch@camra.ca (mailto:merch@camra.ca)
We do ask all individuals that, if you are to submit a design, to please keep it tasteful and respectful of CAMRA and what we represent. Obviously we want you to have fun with this golden opportunity, and are excited to see everyone’s creative side, but do ask to abide by the above requests.
Thank you, Cheers, and Good Luck!
(Also, it’s been brought to my attention that I incorrectly mentioned the location of Nathan Say’s house for the upcoming Bottle Share night on February 23rd. They are actually located across from Broadmead Village Shopping Center, not Royal Oak as I had previously included. Thank you to the individual that emailed me about that.) ** Reminder….. ———————————————————— Hey CAMRA Members and Craft Beer Enthusiasts,
Hope everyone is coping well with this blast of winter we’ve been having. It may be early February, but it seems like a typical Victoria winter around here…..
I just wanted to take this moment to give you a few updates of things happening around our fair city over the next little bit.
Firstly, I want to thank everyone who turned out to our meeting last week on January 30th at ile Sauvage Brewery. It was, suffice to say, a complete success with one of the largest turnouts of members we’ve had in quite a few months.
Nearly 40 of our fellow CAMRA Victoria faithful came that evening to sample some great beer from Victoria’s newest brewery, while co-owner Ian Ibbotson diligently led us through the story of the brewery’s opening and the history behind each of the beers we were served. A huge shoutout to Ian for doing a bang-up job that evening, successfull juggling our large group upstairs while also serving the many other patrons visited during the same time.
To check out pictures from that evening, and others from past events, hit this link (CAMRA.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=13c466132396bddc53ae2d7ba&id=129886a095&e=77b03b1968) to see everything we’ve captured.
On that note, our next event is coming up on Saturday February 23rd, with a bottle share at Treasurer Nathan Say’s house, located at 953 Falaise Crescent, across from the Royal Oak Shopping Center and near the Royal Oak transit exchange, (map location here (CAMRA.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=13c466132396bddc53ae2d7ba&id=d836e2a68c&e=77b03b1968 Falaise Crescent, Victoria, BC V8Y 1A2 CAMRA.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=13c466132396bddc53ae2d7ba&id=c9bc04892e&e=77b03b1968) .) Scheduled start time will be 7pm. The Say’s will provide snacks for the members, while we ask everyone attending to bring something unique to share, (doesn’t matter what format….. bomber, crowler/growler/grumbler etc…, homebrew, whichever.) The goal is to bring beers that many otherwise either haven’t had before or in quite sometime.
Back to the January ile Sauvage event, we formally announced our 2019 executive for CAMRA Victoria to everyone in attendance. Without further ado, here’s the list for your new executive:
– President/Membership: Cayla Stiles-Clark – Vice-President: Troy Alexander – Communications: Sean Clark – Secretary/Events: Nathan Say – Events: Mathieu Poirier – Treasurer: Chris Martin – Marketing & Merchchandise: Lisa Troy – Director-At-Large/Advocacy: John Erskine – Past President: Greg Garner
We want to thank the previous executive members from 2018, namely former Events Malcolm Crerar, Treasurer Mark Rennie, Marketing/Merch Brian Stennis and Past-Past President Glen Stusek for their contributions to CAMRA Victoria in the past year and further. We look forward to seeing you all at future events down the road!
Speaking of events, the 2019 edition of Victoria Beer Week is on the horizon, and this year CAMRA Victoria has a huge involvement in many events. As our primary focus is education and advocacy, we’ve partnered with VBW to be the primary sponsor for their slate of ‘Beer School,’ events happening throughout the city during the 9 day celebration of craft beer.
To check out the full list of events, go to this link (CAMRA.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=13c466132396bddc53ae2d7ba&id=360bb166cf&e=77b03b1968) . Listed below, however, is every single VBW ‘Beer School’ event we will be a part of:
– Saturday March 2nd – Cellar Dwellers (Category 12 Brewing from 2-4pm) – Sunday March 3rd – Introduction to the Cicerone Program (Ile Sauvage Brewing from 6-8pm) – Tuesday March 5th – Food & Beer Pairing (Ile Sauvage Brewing from 5:30-7:30pm) – Wednesday March 6th – Make your own Beer Cocktails (Lure Restaurant & Bar from 5:30-6:30pm) – Thursday March 7th – The Science of Sour (Ile Sauvage Brewing from 5:30-7pm) – Friday March 8th – Cooking with Hops (Victoria Public Market from 6-7pm) – Saturday March 9th – ‘On’ Flavours in Beer (The Number Creative from 2-4pm)
Now those sound like some really enticing events that definitely fit into the educational aspect that we strive to endorse. Of course they’re in addition to the numerous other events occurring, from returning favourites like Lift-Off and All About The Wood, to returnees like Pucker Up, and finally new ones such as the Jones Beer-B-Que and Drink your Hops and Eat them Too! And so much more….. click the above link for ticket information.
Also, the organizers have released volunteer information for the festival. Click this link (CAMRA.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=13c466132396bddc53ae2d7ba&id=27f32aca7f&e=77b03b1968) and sign up to help out for your favourite event!
Hope to See You All There.
