** Reminder….. ———————————————————— Hey CAMRA Members and Craft Beer Enthusiasts,
Just sending out a friendly reminder once again that Monday, January 21st is our Annual General Meeting at 7pm in the Argyle Attic at Smith’s Pub.
On that note, our current President has constructed a detailed report covering all of the bases on what each executive position with CAMRA Victoria includes. We encourage all members in good standing to have a through read-through of the article, so you have a understanding, (should you, or someone you wish to nominate,) of what the job entails.
As a reminder, each executive position is up for election come January 21st. So, without further ado, here’s the article. Enjoy:
Greetings CAMRA Victoria,
I truly hope to see you at our upcoming AGM at The Argyle Attic on Monday January 21st. I believe the space will lend itself well to an informative and productive meeting (plus there should be a few good beers available of course!).
In all seriousness, a well attended Annual General Meeting is vital in ensuring our humble organization continues on with more great work and has a successful 2019. The meeting will allow the outgoing executive to say a few words to recap the year that was and answer any queries from the attending members.
The meeting will also elect a new executive of volunteer members to take up the torch. I wanted to provide a very brief explanation of the roles available and urge our members to seriously consider one of them. The commitment level is not a large one and yet ensures the continuance of a healthy CAMRA Victoria.
*Communications are done almost exclusively using Email and therefore regular access to internet is a must.
President – liaison with CAMRA BC, chair monthly executive meetings, oversee that other executive roles are being fulfilled.
Vice President – Act as President if need arises, chair special projects and/or fill a vacancy if one arises in another executive role.
Treasurer – Maintain a spreadsheet of monthly account activity, income and expenses. Advise on future spending. Safekeeping the debit card, cheque book, and cash box when not in use. Some familiarity with using Excel and PayPal is required (but you do not have to be an expert)
Membership – Maintain list of up to date members. Process new memberships (sending a welcome email, mailing out CAMRA membership cards). Sending reminder e-mails to expired members. This role requires a familiarity with using Excel and PayPal.
Communications – Compile and send out updates/newsletters to members. Oversee our online content such as our Facebook page and website. This role requires a comfort level (or ability to learn) using websites, Facebook, group email sending programs, (such as Mailchimp.)
Secretary – Circulate an agenda and previous minutes ahead of monthly executive meetings. Record minutes at meetings. Produce and distribute the AGM report.
Events Coordinator – Research and organize ideas for future CAMRA Victoria monthly meetings and liaison with venues and members to ensure successful meetings.
Merchandise and Marketing – Store and itemize any CAMRA branded items such as t-shirts, coasters, banners, etc. Help with set-up and attendance at any events CAMRA is able to have a presence at, (ie. the CAMRA GCBF booth[this position requires a vehicle]).
